This Native American statue is what's known as a "Cigar Indian"- commonly found in tobacco shops, these statues are recognizable pieces known for their style. This plaster piece was completely broken in half and missing pieces, and through filling, sculpting, and painting, was fully restored.
Antique and vintage wood and gesso gilded frames are incredibly delicate and break, crack and crumble all the time. We are able to restore them by filling, sculpting, sanding, repainting or regilding the damaged pieces. The white and tan areas on this frame are areas we've filled in that were cracked or completely broken off in a move.
The shattered ear of this shepherd statue is going to be full restored, which means gluing, filling and filing down, airbrushing and re-glazing or lacquering to completely erase the damage that was done. The visible cracks from preliminary gluing will disappear and the pup will be good as new.
